Intense

I always thought I couldn't be caught

Cause I was a cool and cautious kind

You know, I could take love or leave it

You have to make me believe it

Make me believe it

I always tried to keep it inside

To bite my tongue before I'd say

You're my only and one

You have to take the time to show me

Show me

Show me

But suddenly love's finally taken my breath away

It's so intense it doesn't make sense

So intense

Out of control love's blinding me

Like a brand-new light of day

It's so intense

So intense

Ever I Saw Your Face

The first time ever I saw your face

I thought the sun rose in your eyes

And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave

To the dark and the endless skies, my love

To the dark and the endless skies

And the first time ever I kissed your mouth

I felt the earth move in my hand

Like the trembling heart of a captive bird

That was there at my command, my love

That was there at my command, my love

And the first time ever I lay with you

I felt your heart so close to mine

And I knew our joy would fill the earth

And last 'til the end of time my love

And it would last 'til the end of time

The first time ever I saw your face

Your face, your face, your face

Fairy magic revealed my heart's desire true

My mind a whirl of clouded dreams, I knew not where I dwelt

Yet in that shining Fairy Ring, a calming warmth I felt

Oh thrice I called unto the Fey, and thrice anout was turned

I fell upon the living earth, and in that moment learned

For there that night I felt a touch and in that moment knew

The Fairy magic had revealed my heart's desire true ...

For in that touch I felt such love, and in that moment knew

That I did touch a perfect love

My heart's desire true

My heart's desire true

Moon River

Moon river, wider than a mile

I'm crossing you in style some day

Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker

Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world

There's such a lot of world to see

We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend

My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

Make it last a little longer

One too many days

I've felt forgotten

And one too many nights

I've slept alone.

And every time I watch the fruit turn rotten

I tell myself I'll try a little harder

Next time.

Sacred are the ties

That love entrusts us

Even if they fray

Before they bind

And I'm afraid I never

Did you justice

So I'm going to feel my

Love a little stronger

Make it last a little longer

Next time.

Next time

I ain't gonna fall on my knees

And come out of love emptyhanded.

But next time I'll be even harder to please

When will the next time be?

                       ~~Next Time, Dan Fogelberg

Dan Fogelberg was an iconic songwriter and performer (not to mention quite easy on the eyes).  He lived from 1951 to 2007 when he unfortunately lost his battle to prostate cancer.  There's a poignancy and message of hope to these lyrics, love a little stronger, make it last a little longer.  In his own life, Dan was married three times of relatively short stint.  I believe these lyrics came from his own heart and intention.

Dan graced us with many memorable songs like the one above.  Another one of my faves is Longer, which I had sung at my wedding - so that tells you the flavor of it.   It's difficult to pick only one fave.  His own favorite and straight from his heart, is Leader of the Band.  If you only have time to experience one for yourself, listen to Leader of the Band.

My only question is, why has Dan Fogelberg not been inducted into the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame?  At least the Denver Music Hall of Fame got it right for one of their own.

Set fire to the rain

I let it fall, my heart

And as it fell, you rose to claim it

It was dark, and I was over

Until you kissed my lips and you saved me

My hands, they were strong

But my knees were far too weak

To stand in your arms

Without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you

That I never knew, never knew

All the things you'd say

They were never true, never true

And the games you'd play

You would always win, always win

But I set fire to the rain

Watched it pour as I touched your face

Well, it burned while I cried

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!
